Hidemi Takagi (née à Kyoto au Japon)
Hidemi a grandit au Japon à une époque où la télévision américaine, la musique et les films étaient très populaires. Attirée par la culture vive et colorée, elle déménagea plus tard aux Etats-Unis. Mais quand elle arriva à-bas, elle fut frappée par la différence entre ce qu'elle voyait et la vision romantique qu'elle avait imaginé quand elle était au Japon. Au travers de sa série 'Happie Photographie' prise sur Coney Island à New york, elle capture à nouveau son souvenir d'enfance.
La série 'Blender' est un aperçu sur les communautés immigrantes de New York et ses cultures. Les emballages des aliments apportés et tant attendus par les immigrants vivants dans les alentours ont souvent un côté vieux-jeu: designs vifs, saturés en couleur et démodés - une forme d'art qui raconte des souvenirs et aident à rappeller à ces personnes que leur culture est vivante. "Il y a nulle part autant de croisement de cultures qu'à New York. En tant qu'immigrante qui a vécu à New York pour plus de dix ans, voyager à travers les cinq arrondissements est toujours aussi fascinant et excitant; être dans la ville peut donner l'impression de visiter un tout autre pays."
Hidemi Takagi a exposé aux Etats-Unis et en Europe. Son dernier projet ‘Blender’ a été exposé lors d'une exposition sur Times Square en Août 2011.
